LAST UPDATE MARCH 6, 2007 This is the current list of Four Directions volunteer opportunities. Now that our hurricane relief work is complete, we do not need large numbers of service workers. However, we are seeking volunteer teams and individuals for specific project needs. If you are interested in volunteering, please go through Step 1 and then on to Step 3 - the Sign-Up form. FOUR DIRECTIONS OFFICE SUPPORT Volunteer needed for education work in Asheville, NC. Work will involve gathering materials to produce a culturally appropriate Community Organizing 101 and Community Empowerment packet which will be distributed to our project contacts. Computer and internet skills needed. Some creativity needed for packet design and production. Volunteer needed ASAP. Project Intern needed. See Jobs and Interns page for details. LOUISIANA COASTAL TRIBES CULTURAL PRESERVATION Short-term Community Organizer needed. See Jobs and Interns page for details. STRONGHEARTS CIVIL RIGHTS SUPPORT No volunteers needed at this time. ELDER SUPPORT Seeking project volunteers for 2007 summer and fall work at various locations around the country. Please fill out a volunteer form if interested. SUSTAINABLE COMMUNITIES Seeking project volunteers with organic or natural gardening, horticulture, permaculture, natural-building, and sustainable energy experience. Ability to travel freely a bonus as projects may spring up unplanned depending on contact referrals. Limited project financial support available at this time. CLIMATE CHANGE PREPARATION Volunteers needed to design, implement and collaborate on proactive climate change conference. The date has not been announced and we are coordinating with other native organizations on this event.
